Questions
and Answers: What is Tee Ball?
Teeball is played
during Summer from October through to March with a break over the Christmas
holidays.
Q:
What is Tee-Ball?
A:
Tee-ball is a fun, children's game. It is a modified version of
baseball where the child hits the ball off a tee, which is of an adjustable
height, instead of having the ball pitched to them. Tee-Ball is best
remembered by the 4 F's-Fun, Fair Play, Fundamental Skills and Family
Involvement.
Q: How much does it cost to play?
A:
Tee-Ball is one of the cheapest sports going around. The
Wanneroo Joondalup Tee-Ball Club charges $115.00 for the first child,
$105.00 for the second child and
subsequent children from the same family. This is the annual
fee for one season. This includes TBAWA
affiliation, insurance, game fees, Team equipment (such as uniform,
bats, balls, tees etc), photo, trophy and administration costs.
Q: Are there extra expenses?
A: Yes there are extra expenses. You will
also need to purchase a hat ($10- $12) and socks ($8) which are available
from the club. Also required is a mitt
which can
be bought from most sports stores. (Prices correct at posting but could change)
Q: What commitments do I need to make?
A:
As with all sports there is a commitment required. There is
training once a week after school, which lasts for about an hour and a one
hour game on a Saturday morning. Each 7’s and 8’s team also plays at least
one game throughout the season on a Wednesday night. 9’s to 12/13’s will play 2 games on a
Wednesday night. (Could be a double
header.)
Q: What commitments do parents have to make?
A:
Parents are required to help so that the team runs
efficiently. Typically one parent will be the coach, another will be
the manager and other parents will help as required.
Q: Where do I play tee-ball?
A: We play an intra-club competition against other
teams in the same age division. Our home ground is Percy
Doyle Reserve in Duncraig.
Q: How old do you have to be to play tee-ball?
A: Our club starts tee-ball from 7's and continues
through to 12/13s. To be a 7’s player, a child must be in pre-primary
or year 1 in school. If in pre-primary
they will play this age group
for 2 years. Children in year 2 move to 8s.
Q: Sounds great, how do I join?
A: Our registration days are advertised on the home
page, but are usually towards the end of July and the beginning of August.
Go to the home page now and download the Registration Form and send it to
us. Once teams have been formed we will continue to take registrations
until all teams are full.
Q: What happens if I want more information?
A: If you have any more questions, please ask one of
our committee members (see above for details) and they will be glad to
help or if you prefer you can e-mail the club at registrar@wjtbc.com
